Makber, 2008 mixed media installation with mural painting, app. 4,5 x 4m, sound and light shown at “Perché Realizzare Un`Opera Quando È Così Bello Sognarla Soltanto?”, Gent (B), November 2008 Makber is a mural painting where the pattern of a tree`s shadow is sprayed on a wall that was painted with fluorescent paint. After the painting is charged by a light source, the lights turn off and the image of a shadow appears on the wall. And when the fluorescent paint gets weaker the image gradually darkens. The work deals with the transformation of the known architectural space: the shadow appears without a light source and without the actual tree being there, that would cast the shadow. The walls turn into a sort of projection themselves, when all of a sudden the lights turn off and an image appears, that`s gradually changing. The architectural space has turned into a camera obscura. ![]() ![]() installation view from the exhibition “Perché Realizzare Un`Opera Quando È Così Bello Sognarla Soltanto?”, Gent (B), November 2008 ![]() |
